Woody's Back

Each year we are treated to a plethora of birds that come and go. Some stick around for awhile, while others may only visit for a day or two.

Woody is one of our regulars in the cooler months. He is a pileated woodpecker that loves to laugh as he flies around looking for things to peck.

This is him pecking at magnolia seeds.

Probably looking around a relishing being the king of his castle. Or magnolia tree, as it were.

Thinking how great it is to be a ginger.

What's not so great is breaking your arm while wrestling.

When the Queen first saw this photo of her stepson, I thought it was a neat photoshop trick, because arms are not supposed to look like this in real life, and the Prince is quite handy with technology.

Unfortunately it's not photoshopped, it's real and it looks hella painful.

He's going to need surgery and plates and a lot of recovery time.

One thing is for sure, when the Prince does something, he gives it his all. I hope he heals just as quickly.

Fall is changing the palette around here. This isn't the best representation of it, but it's the one within walking distance.

This tree is always the most beautiful and vibrant. By the end of next week it will look remarkably different.

Not much else to report. The Queen will be taking jalapeno cheeseballs, chocolate shortbread cookies, and perhaps some potpies to the farmer's market on Saturday. Hopefully it will be a nice sunny day and people will come in droves. If not, the royal family will have food for the coming week. Either way it's a win.

Speaking of food, time to get started on those sriracha nachos for dinner.
